GIRLS ONLY........PMS?

Yeah so I'm 13 started my period in January and its been regular ...but I'm afraid to use a tampon.....and frankly not quite sure "where" it goes ...and I'm not asking my mom caws all she does is hand me a tampon and tells me get in the bathroom and answer my own dam_ problem.....so any answers on how to learn?.......
