What box hair dye do you use and would you recommend it?

What brand of box hair dye do you use, what shade, and would you recommend it? I've used L'oreal Feria before and despite the bad reviews, I actually liked it. My natural hair is a very brassy, yellow blonde and I died it Crystal brown (light brown) and french roast (medium brown) and I would recommend it. I'm a college student with no money so getting my hair done professionally is completely out of the question :)
