On a minolta x300 when looking through the view finder should it be crystal clear?

Hi I have been given an x300 minolta, now when I have looked through it ,it seems as though its looking through a frosted glass, I might be sounding very stupid here but surely even though it is a very old camera it shouldn't be like that. I have cleaned everything I can think of however i have not touched the inside of the camera. Any ideas ?
